Baseball game in the regional tournament

On July 18, our baseball team played Ohbu Higashi senior highschool and suffered a 3-6 defeat in the very first game.

In the bottom of the 1st inning,Ohbu hit a single and loaded the first and second bases by a fielder's choice. With a bant and a left fly, Ohbu scored. In the 2nd innning, our team tied with two hits and a bant. In the bottom of the same inning, however, Ohbu took the lead again scoring another run. In the 3rd inning, Minami loaded the bases and scored 2 runs merely by wild pitches, regaining a lead. After the initial confusion, the game settled down to a series of naughts. Then in the bottom of the 7th inning, with a walk and a steal, Ohbu hit a single scoring to tie. In the 8th innning, Ohbu inflicted three hits to load all the bases. Ihara, the third hitter, smacked a 3-run double to decide the game.

Both teams looked quite awkward making some easy errors. The difference was that Ohbu hit at the right time and Minami didn't. With a single in the 2nd and 3rd inning with all the bases loaded, the rusult would have been completely opposite.

Traffic Safety Lecture

There was a traffic safety lecture for all the students after the term-end exams were over. The lecturer was Mr. Hara Takashi, form the Toyohashi police. He gave us a lecture using a video and slides.

Do you know that the overall length of the roads in Aichi is twice as long as that of Tokyo and three times as that of Osaka? In addition, the dependance of car for transportation in Aichi is about 72%, while it is 17% in Tokyo and 36% in Osaka. That's why the number of traffic accidents in the area under the control of Toyohashi Police has been in the worst 10 in Japan.

Our school have had so many traffic accident reports from the students that they may surpass the number of accidents last year. Today we learned about how we should do to avoid accidents. Now it is time for us to put this knowledge into practice.
